So before we get to today’s post I wanted to let you all know that my awesome friend and blogger Ericka Clay, who runs Tipsy Lit, has seen fit to glitter my blog up. As part of her weekly Glittered by Ericka contest I submitted this post, and much to my surprise, it won. There was some really good stuff submitted too. Stuff like this, this, this, this, this, and this. Even so, I humbly accept this great honor and now on the side bar of my home page you can see my proudly displayed badge. You may wish to stop by and congratulate Ericka on her new book deal.
Now today’s post.
On Sunday I ran in the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile race. It was great right up until about mile 9. I had some really great splits under 8 minutes. But mile 9 served up a big fat 8:36 split time. unfortunately this meant a final time just over 80 minutes, which was my goal. You can go here and search the unofficial results. My bib number was 5368. But not all is lost. It’s still a great course and I had a wonderful time. I am already looking forward to doing it again next year, should the fates allow.
The race had about 15,000 competitors and was filled with all sorts of great people. The youngest competitor was 8 and his time wasn’t all that far behind mine. Very impressive. The air horn that started the race was blown by Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell. From a purely Washingtonian standpoint that’s like a celebrity for us.
I’m looking forward to my next race, which will be a slightly easier 5k. What kind of stuff do you do to stay active? Please let me know in the comments below.
Thank you!! So glad you like the button and congrats on the run!

I remember that post! I loved it! One solid paragraph of total madness. Congratulations! On that, not the running thing – that’s just nuts.
